So many things have been going on witht he new home, but I have been under the weather and unable to write. So here we go. We got the main floor unpacked :) We had our family over for a BBQ! We tore into our bathroom (the soggy floor mentioned in the home inspection) which I will post on shoertly. We have also purchased the laminate flooring for the 3rd bedroom $0.97/sq foot at home depot….woohoo!

We still need to have our friends over to see the place….but not for a bit.

All in all it has been a slow summer and we have been lazy in the home improvements because we have been enjoying the weather!

Knome Sweet KnomeWhat a hectic May. We took possession April 30th (or rather May 1) at 3am. From that moment on it has been a whirlwind. The 9 days where spent cleaning. The we did some painting, some minor repairs. Followed by most of the moving. In the middle of it all my Boo’ssister (twin) was hospitalized with Toxemia and had to have h er baby 7 weeks early. We were scared for her, pulling for her and trying to be supportive in any way that her or her husband needed us to be. It’s been 4 days since she had our little Niece an mom and baby are doing amazing. We got to see the adorable little princess last night and she is perfect.

Wow has life been hectic lately…and I thanks Knifty for giving me a little kick in the tushy to get back on here and posting!

it is amazing how quickly time has past and already it is the night before the close on our new home. We signed the documents that needed signing at the lawyers today; and more importantly got new cat tags for our tree babies with the new address and phone number engraved on the back of each.

We have to keep track of our babies!

My good good England Friend (EF) just had a birthday (right near my own) and I decided to try something new; pottery painting. Now this friend of mine is very big fan of England, so I tapped into my inner artist (it is very inner and very hard to find) and I did my best to draw the Union Jack freehand, paint it with three coasts and then handed it over to the amazing pottery place to fire. This is hte finished result. I think i will do more in the future for the new home.

This last weekend I think Boo and I had the most productive and most relaxing weekend in a long time. Friday I was tired, so much so I have no idea what I actually did. Saturday we slept late, had a great breakfast and then off to run errands for the new house (30 days to go). We priced a few things, we picked up boxes, we packed those boxes, we cleaned, dropped stuff to goodwill and the list goes on.  We made time to participate in Earth Hour and then we rewarded our busy little selves with at 10pm movie at a theater near our new home (getting to know the new neighborhood).  Sunday I slept in, watched a movie, slept some more, went out with my Grandmother and then came home to do some crafting. I pulled out my scrapbook paper, picked a few unique pages and cut them into 4 card sized rectangles in preparation for my “We Moved” address change cards I plan to send to friends.  All and all a wonderful and full weekend.

I sit today at my desk with relief written all over my face. We saw the house last night, the repairs were done fine. One little area wasn’t done, but we truly believe that the owner just didn’t understand (a language barrier) and it will be a cheap adventure for Will and I to fix (sure we can replace the floor beneath the toilet). On the flip side, they did a lot of little extras and put a really nice door in to access the furnace (secretly I am happy they didn’t hinge the wall).

So now I embark of the adventure of giving notice and all these other wonderful paperwork things that are to be done.

Well tonight is the night. Tonight is the last legal obstacle, the last of the conditions on our offer for the house. Now it should be noted that I already consider this house mine. I have a full mental design in my mind. I have dreams about where the furniture will go. I am already living there in my head. But tonight we get a another peek at the place that we will call home in 36 short days from now. The current owners have completed the repairs that we asked be done, and we get to see how it turns out. Including a peek at an entire interior wall in the basement being hinged to give access to the furnace. An idea the (very creative) current owner had, that would manage to give access while preserving the built in book cases. An idea I have many times since hearing it declared would either be very cool, or very very bad…we will find out tonight.

I have added new items to my Etsy shop recently. Most ar for Pullip, but there are also other items.  Enjoy!

So as Boo and I are waiting for an elevator in our apartment building this morning, we hear shouting. The door slides open to reveal a very packed elevator and a crazy man yelling (and did he really grab her),  at a woman with a dog. Elevator door slides shut and Boo, myself and our sweet super look at each other in shock. What did we jsut see? The second elevator arrives and we pile in quickly. As the we exit to the first floor we can see a family loading a van with suitcases.

Nearing the door we hear more yelling. I look at Boo, what is going on, we just want to go to work.

Leaving the building we round the van and see that Crazy man is actually fightng with a man from the van crowd. Crazy Man is in his car yelling at Van Man. Telling him he’s inconsiderate and using very colourful words.

It quickly becomes clear that Crazy Man is upset with Van Man and his family because….well they had the nerve to get on the elevator, all at once…..with……are you ready for ir….SUITCASES. He’s actually mad because he had to squeeze in with their suitcases rather than wait for the next elevator or take his large butt own some stairs.

Boo and I just couldn’t believe it, and we still don’t have a clue what happened to Dog Woman, she was no where to be seen.

All I have to say is I can not, absolutly can not wait to move!

Boo and I have had a recent run of bad luck, the last of which was our apartment being robbed at the end of January. Naturally they took all my jewelry and not just the expensive stuff, but the jewelry that was very special to me. After we filled all the required reports, and after feeling very angry at our crappy management company who are too cheap to install camera’s on every floor, we decided to make a move.

Our family encouraged us to look at getting a mortgage, and now we are on our way to owning our first home.

 Step 1: Get a pre-aproval for a mortgage. – check

Step 2: Find a house and make an offer. – check

Step 3: Home inspection. – check

Step 4: Have lawyer check over status certificate of condo corp.

Step 5: Move in.

One thing that amazed me about this entire process was that it happened so fast. From seeing a place on a Friday, we had our offer accepted by the following Sunday.

So now we wait, and wait, and think about paint colours. Red for the kitchen?
